FAQs
A CBD tincture is a liquid extract made from high-CBD hemp plants often mixed with MCT (medium chain triglycerides - made from coconut and palm kernel oils). The extraction process involves soaking the plant materials in the chosen solvent to extract the beneficial compounds, including CBD. Tinctures usually come in small dropper bottles for convenient and controlled dosing. It is important to note that CBD tinctures may vary in terms of potency and ingredients, so it is advisable to read product labels and choose reputable brands that provide 3rd party lab results. Drift Nighttime Tincture adds drowsy CBN, lavender oil and cardamom oil to enhance your nighttime sleep routine.
To use a CBD tincture, you typically place a few drops under your tongue and hold it there for about 60 seconds before swallowing. This method allows for sublingual absorption, where the CBD is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream through the mucous membranes. This allows for a quicker onset when compared to taking a gummy.
This is totally determined by personal preference. CBD, CBG, and CBN gummies run through the digestive system, so they have a slower onset but also tend to have a longer duration. CBD, CBG, and CBN tinctures are held under the tongue (sublingual) for a minute prior to swallowing, causing a faster onset. Most gummies have a sugar coating, while tinctures normally do not contain sugar.
Absolutely! The dosage of our Drift Nighttime gummies and tincture, when used together, still fall within our recommended dosage ranges. We recommend getting both the gummies and the tincture and experiment with your personal custom combination. Some customers do a dose of each and others do 1/2 dose each. It's interesting to alternate between gummies and tinctures as well.
CBD tinctures do not necessarily need to be refrigerated, but storing them in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight is recommended. Exposure to heat and light can potentially degrade the quality of the product.
Generally yes. The rules regarding traveling with legal CBD, CBG, and CBN products (less than .3% delta-9 THC), including tinctures, can vary depending on the destination and mode of transportation. Because a tincture is a liquid, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)'s rules regarding liquid in your carry-ons apply. While CBD is legal in most places in the US, it is advisable to check the specific regulations of your departure and arrival locations.
CBD tinctures are generally formulated for oral or sublingual use and are not explicitly designed for topical application. However, some individuals may choose to apply CBD tincture to an area to experiment with the effect.
Our tinctures are not intended to be water soluble, so they won't suspend in liquids perfectly. That said, since our tinctures have a mild pleasing flavor and will mix relatively well in most liquids, they are fine added to a drink. However, we recommend using our tinctures subligually direrctly under the tongue for about a minute before swallowing. This will make the tincture work much faster.
CBD tinctures, if stored properly, typically have a longer shelf life than gummies. Tinctures commonly have a shelf life of up to 3 years.
If pregnant or with any medical condition, we always recommend consulting with a medical professional before using any CBD, CBG, CBN or THC product.
